THE MANY DIFFERENT COLORS OF CANCER

There are over 30 different kinds of colors that represent different types of cancer. Somehow, lately, when I was working on the logo of this organization and was asking other people’s opinions of what color I should use for the ribbon, they said pink because it is the universal color for cancer. so many people think this because breast cancer is one of the leading diagnosed cancers and its high rate of awareness. Well, there are so many other colors representing other cancers. Let’s go through a few:

  • Lung cancer: white
  • Brain cancer: Grey
  • Breast cancer: pink
  • Liver cancer/lymphoma, and gall bladder: emerald green
  • Lymphoma: lime green
  • Prostate cancer: light blue
  • Stomach cancer: periwinkle blue
  • Bone cancer: yellow
  • Leukemia/kidney: orange
  • Colon cancer: dark blue
  • Childhood Cancer: Gold
  • pancreatic cancer, testicular cancer, leiomyosarcoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, stomach cancer, and esophageal cancer: Variations of purple
  • Prostate cancer: light blue
  • Ovarian cancer: teal color

Just to list a few. As u can see in some cases 1 color represents more than 1 cancer. So many people identify themselves and their struggles or struggles of a loved one using a color. Now, in subsequent blogs, we will discuss the different months allocated to different cancers. Hope this was educative to you as much as it is for me.
